00300		There has recently been published a spate
00400	of books which purport to show how to reconcile religion with
00500	science.  They are all worthless, because they achieve a 
00600	superficial consistency by watering down religion an 
00700	subordinating  it to the fallacies of the so-called
00800	scientific method.  A true explanation of the place of science
00900	can only come from a writer to whom God has granted an
01000	unshakeable faith in the primacy of religion, and
01100	who can always remember, however involved he may get in
01200	the intricacies of scientific explanation, that science is a
01300	grace granted by God to man, and knows enough to look
01400	for evidence of God in every phenomenon he investigates.

01600		As a result of the essential Godlessness of present 
01700	day scientists - including most of those who pay lip service
01800	to Christ but neglect to pray for divine guidance in their own
01900	life work - science today is a jungle of confusion, and, unless
02000	repentance is quick, it is headed for total catastrophe when
02100	God finally cracks down.

02300		The essential unGodliness of most of the so-called
02400	Christian historians and scientists is demonstrated by their
02500	inability to understand why the pagan Greeks never developed
02600	what is called "modern science".

02800		All sorts of ridiculous answers are given by self-styled
02900	Christians who cannot remember their faith long enough to
03000	realize that science is a gift to man from
03100	God and that God would never have granted the boon of
03200	science to pagans.    God does not need science.  He is infinite
03300	and has no need of simple laws to co-ordinate facts.  He can
03400	and does keep all the facts that ever were or ever would
03500	be in His  Mind at once.  He has no need of Fermat's last
03600	theorem to tell Him that  x  to the  n  plus  y  to the  n
03700	is never equal to z to the n for positive integers
03800	with n greater than two.  He can just look and see.  (Qui
03900	omnia scit, intellectum non requirit - St. Thomas).

04100		Do you suppose the childishly obvious
04200	idea of tossing unequal weights from towers never occurred
04300	to such brilliant men as Plato and Aristotle?  Of course
04400	they tried it, but God did not give them consistent results
04500	because it was not necessary for material phenomena to obey
04600	simple laws comprehensible by man.

04900		No-one who keeps God constantly on his mind would need
05000	an explanation of this fact, but nowadays it must be given.  The
05100	conntruction of intricate theories to explain the world is necessary
05200	only to man with all his fleshly limitations.  God needs not tortuous
05300	mathematics to find out if Fermat's last theorem is true.  He merely
05400	examines all possible quadruples (x,y,z,n) of numbers to see
05500	which of them satisfy x↑n+y↑n = z↑n.  God, because He is omniscient, has
05600	no need to be intellectual.  He has no need for Occam's razor, and
05700	it is no convenience to Him to have objects fall according to a
05800	simple law.  Scientific law is a grace given to Christian men.

06000		The first major grant of quantitative physical law was
06100	to Galileo.  After praying in Church, he noticed the chandelier
06200	swinging and speculated that the period of the sway did not depend
06300	on the amplitude of the oscillation.  So pleasing had his prayers been
06400	to God, that this speculation was instantly and retroactively granted.
06500	How foolish to write learned tomes wondering how Galileo was able
06600	to guess that the period was independent of the amplitude, and then
06700	completely neglect to wonder what prayerful thought could have induced
06800	God to grant him this law!

07000		Galileo was rewarded by having several of his conjectures
07100	made true, but evidently God must have had some patience and
07200	affection still left for the Roman church, since Galileo was
07300	punished for his quarrels with this church by having his theory of
07400	the cohesion of water disallowed.

07600		The next really virtuous man to be rewarded was the theologian
07700	and saintly man Isaac Newton.  It is again typical of this age that
07800	Newton's scientific speculations are assiduously studied while the
07900	theological achievements that induced God to grant him his scientific
08000	theories are ignored.

08200		Then God, in his infinite generousity, granted to someone
08300	(maybe Galileo or Newton) that scientific laws can be objectiely
08400	discovered by anyone who goes through the correct scientific ritual.
08500	Like all of God's gifts, this one can be used or abused, and this one was abused.
08600	Hundreds and then thousands of men went to work producing scientific theories
08700	and the angels were hard put to keep up with them.

08900		Finally, a certain sly Jew noticed that the angels had rewarded Maxwell
09000	with a theory that was inconsistent with what had been awarded to Newton.
09100	He further had the temerity to propose the only consistent way out of
09200	the inconsistency.  The angels granted Einstein his theory, because God's Word
09300	is law, but to punish him arranged for the killing of six million of his
09400	coreligionists less than three decades later.

09600		Since that time, matters have gone from bad to worse, leaving
09700	us with the morass of confusion that is present day physics.  No
09800	sooner is an ugly and ad hoc theory spawned calling for a new
09900	particle to account for the experimental data, that the particle
10000	is discovered.  But, since the theory was put forward without adequate
10100	thought and with no prayer, it turns out to be inconsistent
10200	after all, and science is left with a new particle to explain.

10400		This cannot go on much longer.  We prophesy that when the
10500	American atom bombers release theer bombs over Moscow, physicists
10600	will be thrown into consternation and dismay when the bombs fail
10700	to explode!  God will have revoked nuclear physics!

10900		There is only one way to avoid this catastrophe!  Christian
11000	men of science must take immediate action!  A conference must be
11100	called and committees formed to devise a new consistent theory
11200	of physcis according to aesthetic and above all religious principles.
11300	Its every equation must show the Glory of God.

11500		In order to show their humility, the proposers must ascribe
11600	appropriate parts of the new science to Galileo, Newton, de Nouy, and
11700	other scientists of the past whose Chr←stian principles are above
11800	all shadow of suspicion or accusation.

12000		To show our sincerity we must burn all the books giving the
12100	false theories and confusing experiments of the recent era.  We must
12200	not shrink from burning also the impious who refuse to renounce them
12300	and accept the new.  Only then can we sincerely pray to God that
12400	our theory will be granted so that once more the bombs will be safe
12500	from all danger of not exploding.
